Recognize your food triggers
and plan ways to control them!
Many people fail at dieting because sweet or salty foods triggers overeating - once they start, they can't stop. Other food triggers include smells, sights, hunger, thirst, tension, stress, boredom, loneliness, comfort, rewards, social situations, certain activities, even just knowing it's available. Get to know your habits that trigger unplanned eating. Do you eat when watching TV? How about popcorn, candy, or soft drinks at the movie theater?

Make a plan to control the impulse next time the trigger is there. (i.e. Keep your hands busy in front of the TV. Do some simple exercises while watching TV.
