Focus on your actions, not the results.
Set goals that you control through your own decisions and behavior - not how many pounds you’ll lose by when. Are you keeping your journal every day? Are you weighing yourself? Are you learning about portions and nutrition labels? Are you committed to exercise each day? Your workout goals might include distance, time, speed, number of sets, or reps. If you take care of the things you can control, the results will take care of themselves.

If you set goals that are not directly achievable through your actions, they are too vague. You will become discouraged and quit when they are not met, and that won't get you anywhere! Remember, these are lifetime changes, so you have the rest of your life to achieve results, but it won't take you that long if you follow the principles.
