Weight training is less intimidating and
easier than running or even walking
when you're way out of shape.
I recommend weight training early on because everybody can do at least some of the exercises. You'll build muscle, and each pound of muscle burns 30-50 calories per day, while a pound of fat burns only 2-5 calories per day. So, the more fat you can turn to muscle, the more calories you burn all the time! (Even while you sleep.) The results are quick and you'll build stamina for your aerobic workouts. You'll begin to feel your body changing within just a few workouts.
